Carton Flow Racking Systems & Storage Solutions

What is Carton Flow Racking

Carton flow racking is a type of storage system designed to keep your warehouse organized and running efficiently. With a carton flow system, your warehouse will be divided into two sections: The first section will be designated for taking products off of the shelves so that they can be delivered to consumers, while the second will focus on storing the products that have arrived from manufacturing. This system utilizes a FIFO (first in, first out) inventory model, which allows products to flow through the warehouse seamlessly.

How Does Carton Flow Racking Work

With flow racking, products that are fast moving are picked off the pallet, while slow moving products are transferred to the shelves. Products that are most suitable for carton flow are those that move through the warehouse at a moderate pace. A great example would be a particular product that is picked-up from the warehouse at least once a week.

Additionally, flow racking has a rear loading and front picking layout. This helps make the flow of workers more efficient, and helps move boxes and cartons to the front so they can be picked up. The layout is good for e-commerce facilities, distribution centers, or multi-level pick modules.

Flow racking is exceptionally good at organizing the flow of products from the time they arrive to the time they leave the warehouse. This is why the businesses that benefit most from these systems are those with warehouses who continuously move a high volume of products each day.

Why You Should Use a Carton Flow Rack System

A carton flow rack can improve warehouses by organizing products and automatically moving them. Long lines with straight sections make it easy to find things and avoid the cost of hiring many workers.

Warehouses can also store more products in less space which will help keep building costs down. Carton flow rack systems can use about 50% less space than standard pallet rack systems and the difference can be even more dramatic with multi-level systems. Not to mention, the simplicity of gravity-driven systems requires less money for maintenance than automated systems.
